I have finished the top of my Lap of Luxe Quilt by Quilt Dad. This is my very first full(ish) sized quilt top finish! I downloaded the FREE PATTERN at Art Gallery Fabrics Creative Blog. I'm using some fabrics already on hand instead of the recommended Luxe fabrics. It seemed like a perfect way to showcase some bolder prints, so I used this Alison Glass, Clover Sunshine, Teal/Mustard bundle from Fabricworm.com along with a couple of Kona Solids.
I did use one Art Gallery Fabric: this Nordika by Jeni Baker, in Flowerfall Jade. I like this one so much, I think the rest of it will become a pillow on it's own.
Also this Studio E, Modern Age in Starry Chocolate:
The Lap of Luxe pattern was touted as beginner friendly and went together very easily. Just a couple of afternoon cutting & sewing sessions and the top is FINISHED! Going to work and feeding my family were the only things standing in the way of this being a one day deal. The instructions include how to make perfect half-triangles blocks. I think triangles are frightening for new quilters like me, so this was very
helpful. All of my triangles are still not perfect, but that's OK...
I also changed the block size from 13" to 16". I thought 48" x 64" would be large enough for kids to use on the couch and I only wanted to use each fabric once. So here we have my first full size quilt top - FINISHED! I'm hoping put together a back & maybe get it basted this weekend...
So excited to join up for my very first FINISH IT UP FRIDAY Link Party!
